Yves Klein was the most influential, prominent and controversial French artist to emerge in the 1950s, chiefly noted for artwork in his patented rich ultramarine pigment, International Klein Blue (IKB). In addition to his Blue Period, other monochrome palette phases of his oeuvre featured red (Monopink/MP) and yellow/gold (monogold/MG). Table d’Or (Golden Table) is a Plexiglas table filled with about 3,000 sheets of gold leaf. The table was designed by Klein in 1961 prior to his death, but his widow Rotraut Klein-Moquay oversaw the production of an edition that began in 1963. Other color editions of the table are IKB, Table Bleue, and a rose-pigment, Table Rose.
