Axel Krause uses acrylic oils on canvas to create paintings with a distorted 1950's post war theme. The human figures are often clothed in the highly recognizable fashion of the 50's era. The paintings often include detailed shading, textures, a variety of vibrant and dull colors. Another common theme of his works are the inclusion of a mechanical gadgets or a mechanical transportation devices perhaps referencing to the mass production factories, the new conceptions of innovative technology being released into the consumer market, and the post war factory production of consumer goods. Krause manipulates depth, scale, orientation, perspective and background scenery. His work is features minor distortions with the symbolism and vague dreamlike state similar to surrealism.
