Moise Kisling

b. 1891 and died 1953

Moise Kisling was a Polish painter. He began his artistic studies in Krakow but in 1910 he moved to Montmarte and a few years later Montparnasse. Kisling became part of the Parisian art community and became close with Amedeo Modigliani. His art has often been described as a precursor to surrealism and painted landscapes, female bodies and nudes and portraits.

Moshe Kisling has works in many museums, including “Lady in Blue” a the Tel Aviv Museum which also appears on an Israeli commemorate stamp.
